Tonight: A showcase worth seeing

I recently connected with the team behind HELPipedia and discovered that they’re building something closely aligned with work we already have underway.

Tonight, July 23, from 7:00–9:00 PM EST, HELPipedia is hosting its first telethon celebrating the 36th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

The event will feature performers with diverse abilities, talents, and creativity, while raising support for SpecialNeeds.help—a growing directory designed to help families find disability-related resources in one place.

This caught my attention for a very personal reason.

My mother now travels with a mobility scooter, and I’ve seen firsthand how difficult it can be to determine whether a hotel, transportation system, attraction, or destination is genuinely accessible—not merely described that way online.

That experience helped inspire AccessNomad, a new global directory we’ll be introducing soon to help travelers with accessibility needs make better, more confident decisions.

Different projects. Closely connected missions.

Tonight’s event is a good opportunity to support people doing meaningful work in this space and to see the talent, creativity, and potential that too often go overlooked.
