A man dies and is given a choice between Heaven and Hell. First, he’s taken to Heaven—it’s peaceful and serene. Harps, clouds, eternal calm. Nice, but not exactly thrilling.

Then he’s shown Hell, and it’s a wild party—dancing, laughter, music, and nonstop excitement. It’s everything he ever dreamed of.

Naturally, he picks Hell. But when he arrives, he’s greeted with flames, despair, and endless torment. Horrified, he asks the devil, “What happened to the party?”

The devil grins and replies, “Yesterday, you were a prospect. Today, you’re a client.”

It may seem funny…but tragically, it’s not. It’s the reality of how most businesses operate. The love-bombing stops once the sale is made, leaving clients feeling duped and devalued. And people on both sides of the transaction are left asking, “What happened?”

This is how you kill a business. Clients who feel ignored or merely tolerated don’t stick around. They don’t rave about you to their friends. They don’t become your referral engine. And without referrals, your growth stalls.

It’s like dating versus a stale marriage. You can’t just sit back and assume the love will last—you’ve got to work to keep the magic alive. Your clients need to feel the same energy and enthusiasm from you that they felt when you first won them over.
