Thought of the Week
"Embrace the art of starting small. Every majestic oak tree once sprouted from a tiny acorn.
Your biggest dreams and grandest achievements have their beginnings in the smallest of actions.
This week, take that first, small but brave step toward your dreams.
Remember, the journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step"
7 Critical Strategies to
Boost Your Business Right Now
Rory Sutherland's book 'Alchemy' (one of my favorites) is full of cool ideas that might seem a bit weird at first, but they really work for businesses. |
1. Try the Opposite:
What to Do: If something isn’t working, try doing the complete opposite. For example, if you’re always serious in your ads, try being funny instead. You might be surprised at how people react!
2. Make Small Things Big:
What to Do: Take a small part of your business and make it super special. For instance, if you’re sending emails, add a fun fact or joke at the end. It’s a small touch that can make a big difference (we do that in our newsletters).
3. Surprise People:
What to Do: Do something unexpected. If you own a coffee shop, maybe have a "mystery flavor" of the day. People love surprises and might come back just to see what’s new.
4. Show What You Stand For:
What to Do: Make sure everything in your business sends the right message. If you care about the environment, use recyclable materials and tell your customers about it. Don't assume everyone "knows"--they don't!
5. Share Your Story:
What to Do: Tell people the story behind your business. Maybe you started your bakery because of your grandma’s secret cookie recipe. People love stories and it can make them feel connected to your business.
6. It’s the Little Things:
What to Do: Pick one tiny detail and make it awesome. If you’re packaging a product, add a little thank you note inside. It’s a small thing that can make people smile (and they typically cost nothing to do!).
7. Ask Why People Like You:
What to Do: Talk to your customers and find out why they really come to you. Maybe it’s your friendly service or your cozy shop vibe. Once you know, you can do more of what they love. Don't assume that you know--you probably don't!

Tip of the Week
Launch a #RetroRewind Campaign
Dive into nostalgia marketing by launching a campaign that revisits a beloved era. Here's a concise plan:
Pick an Era: Identify an era nostalgic to your target audience. If they're 30-somethings, the '90s might be perfect.
Retro Content: Create social media content with a retro vibe. Use filters, old-school fonts, or styles that evoke that time period.
Interactive Element: Encourage audience participation by asking them to share their own throwback photos or memories using a campaign-specific hashtag like #RetroRewind.
For example, if you're selling eco-friendly products, you might post a throwback to the first Earth Day in the '70s, styled with vintage filters and ask your followers to share their earliest 'green' memory with your hashtag. This can create a fun, engaging atmosphere around your brand while tapping into the powerful emotions tied to nostalgia.
Remember--Engagement leads to sales...so focus on continually suprising and delighting your community!
